Converted from RAW, replaced the background with black, convert to black and white, some dodge and burn and other enhancements.

It reads well on my monitor; I wonder if it reads too dark on others...

Doesn't seem too dark on my monitor. Kittys fur looks very silky and it does stand out from the background darkness.

Not too dark on my monitor but I can see a light fringing on the edge where you extracted the image from its original background. If you had placed it against a white or pale gray background, it would have been totally invisible and much better in my opinion. That being said, kudos to you for being able to show details in such a dark fur. It was a tricky exposure and you got it right.

it is very dark on my monitor, but its a sharp contrasty darkness and the details where i spose you want them are still visible, like on his face .. excellent the way he really does pop out'v the background .. you and me both love the 'other' edits !!! ..
