Wayne - welcome to the future. Check out my camera - it writes directly to CD-RW's. No memory stick or flash memory required - put in a little CD and you're set for over 150MB of storage, for about 50 cents. Plus, the latest release (Mavica CD500) is a 5 megapixel camera with great optics and most of the features your 717 has, including histogram view for exposure and stuff like that.
