I guess I wasn't around during this challenge.. and unfortunately missed this shot. Very well done, love the look on the child's face and especially in her eyes. the tight crop gives the impression of very little space inside the trunk, and makes the viewer wonder what is beyond - attempting to follow her stare. The antique/old fashioned feel is tremendous. Nice work!

I guessed this was yours. You have a distinct look about your photos. Very nice!

I'm absolutely amazed this didn't win. I'm adding it to my favorites now. So far, this is my all-time favorite.

This is a lovely picture. It looks like it ought to be a capture of some scene in a movie.... I'm not sure I can articulate why I think it works so well, in this case, only that it does.

Love the hand-tinted, colorized feel of this, and would very much like to know how you accomplished this. The espression on her face leaves me perplexed. A seriousness that looks out of place on a child - like she's seen too much in the world, (or is painfully resigned to being a "model" for mom or dad!) The concept of the photo is intriguing, and the overall feel is that it is a shot from another time.

Nice idea and good subject and props. However, was the green tinge intentional? Perhaps turn in black and white or more brown than green. Good try =)

Great set up. I love the subdued colors ... makes it feel like the bottom of a ship. Great composition. 9 Jacko.

This is a pretty much perfect shot. The green tinge brings to mind life aboard ship, and the girl's gorgeous green eyes, expression, and costume are all dead on. Excellent job!

I really like the lighting of this shot and the coloring. It feels like something from the early days of color film.

The toning here is absolutely fabulous. I am compelled to give it an instant 10, and anyone who doesn't should be removed from society. This is one of the best shots I've ever seen on DPC, and that's really saying something.

what a face! I like this response to the challenge and the trunk works for me as well especially in the match with the eyes

would have been even better if the girl wasn't centered? 7 points

I love your choice to do this photo in greens and browns. It really causes me to zero in on her eyes. Very poignant. Really works for me. 10

One of my favorites this challenge. The coloring is perfect. Composition good. Tells a story. Good luck.

Great idea but the pale tone (intentional or overexposed?) kills it for me - i would love to see the original - 6

Other than the desaturated colour I think this image is lovely - reminds me of the books I'd read as a child.

This is one of my favorites. The muted colors and theme make this feel like a screen capture from an old movie. Her eyes are beautiful and haunting and I like how her hat and hair fade into the shadow of the trunk. If I could vote, I would definitely give this a 10.

If this picture doesn't deserve a 10...I don't know what does! This beautiful girl's eyes are the EXACT same color as the trunk she's in! A very awesome, creative picture! :) .........now that I've looked at all the other pictures and rated them.....yours is the best picture of them all!!
