Perhaps you could have waited a little or taken just a little sooner, depending on if it is morning or evening. A difference of maybe 15-30 min. if that, could catch the sun lower behind trees, cutting down on the brightness, yet still catching interesting shadows.

I tried the grain like you mentioned but it looked as though the umbrella was fake. I should have submited the one without grain. Oh well, a lesson I will never learn. Creativity burns in my soul. :-)

If this was my shot...I would change the color of the font. The white really stands out and my eyes go right for the text unstead of the picture. :-) Beautiful sunset!
