Looks a lot like the horse in the photo "Good Scratch". Complex, but all the same stuff (hair) so the patterns in the matt create flow and texture. Color is good too.

I see it rotated one click left, and call it "Dirt Fire". Hard to scale this one as to inches or miles, but it's well done. The shadows make it work.

Today's Special - Dirt Pie w/ a Side of Worms

Maybe worms in the whipped cream or pie, and leave off the side would make it simpler and easier to digest. Still a good thought for the contest theme, and lighted well. I'm not quite sure about depth of field. The fork handle sharper would make it more appealing to me. The back elements seem to detract from the bolder graphic elements of the plate, fork, pie, and napkin. It looks like a lot of effort for the effect, and I appreciate that.
