Day 23 - Winter Goldfinch

Neat, It's a coldfinch! The little spot of color makes this a sweet shot. I see something here that I see once in a while in my shots when I try to pull up the lowest light levels, and that is the pepper sprinkle look on the subject. It's still nice for this subject. It's sort of like grain in images in the film era.

Nice location for this shot. I can see the bottom! The bottle. the line of posts put a human touch to this shot. The posts are a strong element of the composition.

This is a nice early or late day shot of a mysterious looking dock area. I like the line of diminishing sized buildings across the way too. Nice colors in the sky, and the bird adds life to it.

Day 23: Morro Bay Harbor

Too bad you couldn't get a shot from the top of one of those stacks. The power plant needs a place on the water for cooling and condensing the steam from the turbines, so they put them near water in locations where they are protected from the direct ocean wave action. It's a bummer that it is in such an otherwise pretty location. That is a nice sunny day shot of the fishing fleet.

This shot is beautiful with the moon and only a few things sticking out of the snowy hill. This was a very good opportunity, and you saw it and got the shot. : )

It still amazes me how birds can stand the cold like this. This is a good shot of this bird having lunch. I also like the ice sparkles.

Nice action shot of this bird. All that bright ice and water in the back make it difficult to get much light on the birds without blowing out all the background. You might try bumping exposure up 1/2 stop or maybe a full stop to see how it works when you shoot more like this. There may also be a beach and snow setting in your camera's menus somewhere which would be good for this too.
