Day 29 - Insignificanceby photokariangelComment: I can tell that you have greatly enjoyed this SP side challenge, and your photos have gotten a lot of well deserved praise. By putting the images into a theme, you have connected them nicely with our human feelings and moods. Great job so far, and it will continue to get better as you gain experience. You already have the creativity. In this image, by transposing yourself and the first light on the backdrop of the city with all it's lights and people, you make the viewer think about what you are saying, even before reading the title. The line of lights going down the hill are a great leading line creating the unity with the background city. |

Near the topby cogeroxComment: This is a beautiful view, and the processing makes it look bigger than life. |

Day 28 - Magnetic Alphabetby wickee_oneComment: Great subject for a zoom shot! It looks like a combined flower and spider web in an abstract way. You can make the zoom swirl if you hold the zoom collar and twist the camera when you hit the shutter. It works best zooming from tele to wide with slow enough shutter to hold the first part of the exposure steady, then do the twist/zoom just before the shutter closes.
This is a very pretty image. It also looks like I would imagine the inside of a living cell would look. |

Walk With Meby JuliBocComment: I've been here! My son was born at the hospital there in 1970. We ran a trailer park there called Del Boy Trailer Park for a little while. That was a long time ago. Love the beach there though. This is a nice view of it. I would not have seen the kites, but I did see the blimp and wondered what it was. |

A Long Dusty Roadby mwinnerComment: I get a color shift effect similar to this when I underexpose, and bring it back up in post processing.
I like the scene and the S curve. I knew that this was in Florida.
Welcome to DPC. Keep shooting and posting. |

Wash on Monday.....by jjsmomComment: The concept of a line of laundry would have been better accepted by the voters if it had actually been hanging on a "line" outdoors, and photographed from near one end of the line. I guess that this shot didn't have enough solid lines, or one good big one to make it go over well with the voters. Anyway, thank you for saving me from getting the brown ribbon in this "Leading Lines" challenge. I hope that you will keep shooting, and that scores will improve soon for your images. |

Rubik's Cube Unicycleby brownguyComment: The cube looks good for a pan shot in close quarters with so much going on. A crop to vertical, by removing most of the wall on the left of the door would have helped with the score. I expect that you left the wall in so that the rider would be on the "thirds" line, and to show that he was in fact riding the unicycle. The people voting on DPC seem to want an unmistakable subject to pop right out of the image when they open it. Sharpness is a major plus with voting too. I thought you pulled this off pretty well for an indoor shot.
The easiest pan shots are done with a medium tele lens, or zoom at max range. That way the speed of your rotation to capture the moving subject is much lower than when the subject is passing very close to the camera. Just track with the subject, and remember to keep the camera motion going and follow thru after the shot a little to keep the the motion uniform while the shutter is open.
Thank you for the thoughtful comment on one of my images. |
