I live in Arizona, and there are Native American ruins scattered throughout the state. This is one of my favorites. This is located outside of Flagstaff.

A very cool image - the composition is thoroughly interesting, and the high contrast mono conversion works very well indeed. I am with Bassbone in that the sky is a little too noisy for my tastes in this particular photo - possibly some selective noise reduction?

the curved walkway/ path and the deep rich tones of the conversion to b/w really sets this one apart. i am not a huge fan of the sky though - it is a bit too noise to me in comparison to the remainder of the scene

Wonderful framing on this, I just love how that path starts in the left corner and meanders up the image!

This almost look as though it is a film set! the path forms a perfect leading line - super composition.

That's lovely! I like the walkway leading into the shot, and the darkened sky.

You really have this "Draw the eye" thing down! Great image! Love the light.

Wow, nice find Barbara! What a great path leading up to the ruins. The commenters that went afore me have said most things that might be improved and I'll add that I'd like to have seen a little more detail in the large rock in shadow on the left. Oh and whilst the person in the shot might add perspective I'd be inclined to remove him/her.

There's a lot of classic elements to like in this image. The leading line of the path, very nice texture and tonal range. Excellent conversion. If I were to do anything I think I might of lifted the composition just a bit to expose a little more sky, maybe just enough to lose the first stone lining the path but that's a nit-pick at most. Very nice image and a good choice for B&W

Great choice for BW, the harsh light and hance dark shadows afford that.
Very nice framing too.

Funny it reminds me of my grandparent village in Greece

This looks like it would be such an interesting place to see in person. I love the winding road and the smooth looking rocks on the right.

You remind me that tranquility allows the viewer into the frame for a gentle amble. Gentle visual seduction that one can return to. I learn that the natural view - something which has good associations for me - is one that sometimes does not need much in the way of processing help to work. (I see a few bands of posterization in the sky which might have come about by levels adjustment or by noise reduction).

Wow! No wonder it is one of your favortes! It's beautiful and has such amazing character. I gotta figure this one would not have near the impact in color as it does in black and white. I am loving how this side challenge is showing us some of the great things to see in other places. Almost like a "Where you Live" challenge.

This is just plain awesome!

Way cool! Great leading lines. I wonder what this would look like in color though.

Excellent composition to lead us into the picture. Tones and clarity in the foreground are very well done. The sky on my monitor is showing a lot of banding and noise (and a few minor dust bunnies). If you want to re-edit, try the thing Bear was talking about the other day, of converting the sky differently than the rest of the shot.

Wow! This is one of the best I've seen in this challenge so far. The pathway is soooo good, and leads you (of course) right into the ruins. It looks like a wide angle shot??? I would love to know your camera settings, lens, etc.

Like others have sad, very good composition. The area is almost backlit which creates some interesting shadows.

Most excellent composition. All the pertinent elements of the image shine wonderfully. The path, the ruins, the big, round rocks - stunning. Love your processing too.

Wow Barbara, you really did a great job on this. I love the path leading to the ruins and the wonderful dynamic range (without being HDR). The smooth rocks contrast great with the rough desert landscape too...It reminds me of flipping through a book I have called "Ansel Adams and the Photographers of the American West"...

Composition of this is fabulous. The footpath leads you into the picture exactly as you intended. I wonder if a slight levels or curve adjustment would boost the contrast a little.

Nice wow factor, there is alot of interest created by the low angle of the sun and also the range of tones. I really like this.

I like the way the path leads to the structure in the distance. This type of shot would do well with a bump in contrast, I think.
