This is a very nice pooch portrait! I sort of like the B&W better than the color version. That's a great looking dog, and he has a noble job.
The rain drops add a lot to the overall scene.

It sounds from your description that you made quite an improvement in the original image with the processing. I agree that the BG is quite busy. The bright contrasting color of the critter makes it stand out nicely though, and the centered composition helps keep attention focused on the butterfly.
Thanks for posting. Now I know what a Julia butterfly looks like, and will be looking for them on my outings to the swamps.

Day 12: Flute Music

Great viewpoint in this shot. I think it would improve to assemble the flute, and have it on top of the case. Nice job for a quick session.

This is a nice combo of old and new, with the film loader and old SLR's, and then the USB snake sneaking out of the BG. I imagine that you must enjoy the photo classes.

P&S Day 10 - Wetlands

I understand the problem with image file size here at DPC. A photo that has all the rich little details like this one must have, gets quite busy looking when you make it posting sized for DPC. I try to keep my challenge shots simple for that reason.
That's a beautiful pond.

Odd Domino Rally

The tilt is odd, and I like all about the rest of the shot. The shallow DOF is working good to help bring the subjects out of the BG.

This is a nice ticket to the "way back" machine. It reminds me of long ago, when I was the one who emptied them in the classroom in grade school. Nice close up of a fine little machine that hasn't changed much in a long time.

What a nice close up of a normally rather shy bird. I have a difficult time getting within 100 ft of these little guys. You are so fortunate to have such a good location to go and shoot all your wonderful bird shots.
Good sharpness and color for a P&S shot.
