I am drawn to the light coming around and thru the cattails in the foreground. That certainly is a cloudless sky in this shot.

P&S Day 12 - Pickerelweed and Bee

And here's another of your great close ups with your P&S.
I like the way the flower stalk is framed between the green stalks in this shot.
I had forgotten that these plants are called "pickrelweed". The local name for them is "flags" because of their one leaf per stalk design. The places where they usually grow are called "flag ponds," and are a favorite feeding ground for the local deer population.
The much larger variety which grow to about 7 ft tall are locally called "fire flags," and they grow where the muck and water is deeper. They indicate places where you had best not take your swamp buggy if you don't want to spend a lot of time and effort in getting it back from the muck.

I can see what you were going after in this shot. The only bump in the road IMHO is the little thing in the lower right corner. Shadows/Highlights would do a lot for the image if you haven't already done that. Cool shot. I like the stem detail.

This is a very nice pooch portrait! I sort of like the B&W better than the color version. That's a great looking dog, and he has a noble job.
The rain drops add a lot to the overall scene.

P&S Day 13 - Julia Butterfly

It sounds from your description that you made quite an improvement in the original image with the processing. I agree that the BG is quite busy. The bright contrasting color of the critter makes it stand out nicely though, and the centered composition helps keep attention focused on the butterfly.
Thanks for posting. Now I know what a Julia butterfly looks like, and will be looking for them on my outings to the swamps.

This is a nice combo of old and new, with the film loader and old SLR's, and then the USB snake sneaking out of the BG. I imagine that you must enjoy the photo classes.
