17-october 08 macro. the hidden worldby rozComment: Run! It's a 2 legged green-eyed stabber fly!
I like the way the light falls off toward the edges in this shot. The flash gives it sort of a look that you would get with a flashlight in the dark. |

Rock Stackingby DistinctiveImageryComment: I know that you can't always be at the scene when the light is right, however, I feel that this would look better at the opposite time of day, when the sun is behind you for the shot. If this was an evening shot, a short time later, and the sky would even out, as well as possibly allowing you to get more detail in the rocks in the foreground.
Another option would be to shoot from a different angle, but that would mess up the composition, so you did what you could.
The 5D is an outstanding camera. Keep shooting and posting. You have a good attitude, and you see the picture that you want.
If you post the shooting info with the images, it will sometimes help with commenting to know the ISO, aperture and shutter speed for the shot.

Engine Troubleby DistinctiveImageryComment: Nice find! It looks like a 1960's version of Bonnie and Clyde's car.
I like the close up, wide angle perspective, and the faded color in this shot. |

It is Doneby DistinctiveImageryComment: This may be a little better if the bottom is trimmed off a bit. That would direct the attention more to the subject and the sky above.
Having the limb in the corner adds to the photo. |

Silver flowerby StarbananaComment: This is an interesting item. You did a nice job with lighting for this shot. I feel that composition would be a little stronger if the "stem" went toward a corner of the image.
Again, lighting is excellent. It's difficult to light a bright metal item for a photo. |

Macro 06 by KenComment: It's neat that there is no reflection of the yellow in the water. The blue makes the shot for me. |

15-october 08 macro. scavengerby rozComment: Yucky subject, but excellent macro. That's about the sharpest macro of a fly that I can remember ever seeing. This would be a great illustration for a textbook.
Too bad about the snake. Black snakes here are good because they keep the deadly snakes away, and they eat rats and mice. |

Macro 07by KenComment: The low angle, and shallow DOF are just right to accent the foreleg and head in this shot. I like the one antenna in motion, like a little eyebrow wave. |

Rumble-Bumbleby cryanComment: I like the idea of having the two different types of flowers in this shot. I see that this one has his pollen pouch on his leg almost full. Good sharpness on the bee too. |
