Love the light and the happy look that the dog is wearing in this shot. The shallow DOF and high shutter speed is good for this as it puts the viewer's attention squarely on the animal, the whole point of the image.

I am curious about the shadowing along the leading edges of the wings. It appears to be a shadow from the flash. I think that it's a well timed and framed shot, but would have been hit hard in voting because of the shadow more than the darkness in the feathers.

I like the way the lines in the dock boards lead to the pelicans in the air.

What a cool composition, with all the different textures, colors, lines and shapes. You two seem to have become good friends lately.

I see nothing at all wrong with this shot. If you had larger aperture, then the DOF would be narrow as well. I like the way that I can see things behind the fish inside the plant. Lovely colors help a lot with this shot.

That's a hard day when your family dreams come to a close. B&W is good with this subject. It's too bad that this country is losing a lot of these small home farms. Things are "changing". : (

That is pretty nice composition, with the two of them on damp Spanish moss. They must have been relatively small.
I understand your frustration with the close up filters. I have a few of those, and have never used them since my slide film shooting days long ago.
You did a good job with making something enjoyable to see with this. I looked a minute, but didn't find them in my identification site.

It looks like Percy is a happy boy in this shot. I am happy that you found a good critter to help lift your spirits when you needed a boost. I can see that this was shot sort of late in the afternoon, but having very little shadow works nicely for this scene.

You captured that unique west coast morning glow with this shot. I remember seeing it when I was in Mexico for the Baja race last Nov.
The lines, the flagpoles and all the reflections give this image lots of interest. It looks like there may be some birds over the flags in the BG, which is also nice. I try to include birds in my scenic shots too.
