Completely abstract and crazy-cool with color shot. Love the patterns and color in this. I thought it was done by a long exposure of a flame while waving the camera left and right. That's a good use for television.

I like in this shot how there is just enough going on in the background (BG) to see that the flower is not just all alone out in some garden somewhere. It's where it can be seen daily and enjoyed.
If you want to blur the BG in shots like this, try shooting manual, and at low iso, so that the aperture will open up. I almost always shoot flowers in manual mode, at EV -2/3, and brighten the shot later when I edit it. That brings out the textures in the petals without washing out the areas with one color being too strong.
Even in full daylight, I sometimes use flash to fill in the darker areas near the camera when shooting small items like this. A small reflector is even better, as it gives a more even and softer lighting to the subject.
I see that you shoot with a P&S, which makes some kinds of shooting a lot more challenging. I keep a Fuji A920 P&S with me almost all the time, and I get a lot of interesting shots that I would otherwise miss that way.

You have a lot of views on this shot already. Nice find, and the colors are excellent. You didn't post the camera settings with the image. A smaller aperture setting would have increased depth of field even more. It's pretty cool just as it is though.

The light and dark work great to show off the color in this shot. The dark BG makes the color jump to the front.

Balloons

It looks like party time for sure. The blue one gives me an idea for a blur shot, and that is to use a balloon as a filter to do a blur shot, or B&W blur shot of a contrasty subject, like the window bars behind the baloon.

Green

This is a sweet little shout of spring in Michigan. Green is one of the things that I missed most when I was up there for a few months in the winter long ago.

Red on Blue

The colors are grand in this shot.
It seems a little complicated to me, but maybe I am just not grasping the abstract theme of the red on blue. If it was in a regular challenge, I think that people would gripe about it not having a "main" subject.
I like it. It's sort of like blur without the blur, I guess that makes it a "sharp blur" shot.
