Deerby ladpupmoeComment: This looks like a very close encounter with this gentle creature. The pose almost makes the deer look like a garden statue. |

Owl-Reduxby bassboneComment: Owls are usually hard to spot in the daytime when they are sleeping in the trees. This was a good find. I have only had two opportunities like this over about 25 years of shooting pix. Excellent detail, and the environment looks very natural for this. I also like the way the three limbs frame the owl. |

White-Breasted Nuthatchby scottiehamComment: Many people probably mistook this for a blue jay in the thumb view, and passed over it in voting. There are a couple of spots, the cheek and the one wing coverlet where the white is almost washed out as you mentioned in your comment. I am not sure how the color saturation is supposed to look on the bird, as I don't think that I have ever seen one in the wild. The bokeh is very nice, and focus/detail is also spot on. |

Iguanaby TammsterComment: Cool processing to accent all the little details of this critter's skin. These things are so fearsome looking, but actually are not aggressive at all. I used to have a couple as pets.

feeding-frenzy2.jpgby vawendyComment: This shot allows the viewer to study the interaction going on between the players in it. You don't really see all the subtle details of that social aspect of this type confrontation when you are watching it live. Cool shot. |

Clark's Nutcracker - Nucifraga columbianaby CitadelComment: This has excellent bokeh and sharpness of detail in the subject. I can't say that I have ever seen one of these in the wild.
There seems a lot of empty space at the top, but that also allows for that great bokeh to work it's magic. |

Common Nighthawkby JuliBocComment: I am happy for you that you got to shoot some close up shots of this little guy. He must be pretty small because that looks like 1" square tubing that he is sitting on. I saw similar birds in the Abaco Islands of the Bahamas. There are a lot of whip-poor-wills there too. The w-wills lay their eggs right on a rock at the beach. It seems pretty strange to see that, but I guess that the sun helps keep the eggs warm that way. |

Semipalmated Ploverby scottiehamComment: I don't think that anyone could come up with a cooler name for this little guy. This is another shot with no faults at all, and with an interesting subject too. |

Ruddy Turnstoneby scottiehamComment: This is a superb shot, with the water reflecting the light up under the bird so nicely illuminating the exceptional detail in the feathers.
That f5.6 iso 100, SS 1/1,000 is right on the "Sunny 16" rule when you do the math. |
