I know what you mean about loving the trees. We have oaks, some 80 ft tall or so growing in our yard. I would be totally lost without them, although they are a hazard in hurricanes, we have been fortunate so far. One of the limbs broke off one of ours a couple of months ago, and I still haven't gotten it all cut up and gone yet. The base of the limb is about 30 inches thick and the limb was about 60 ft long.
I'm impressed with the phone pic too. They do a good job if there is enough light, and you don't plan on making the image much larger than this one is.

Good sports shot Roz! The timing and expressions make the shot for me.

I can't see any way you could improve on this photo. The light is perfect and the straight ahead, into the lens pose, makes your eyes the center piece of this image.

That's a very interesting bug! It looks a lot like a "Mourning Sphinx" moth, except with the fuzzy tail. Nice capture. Centered works well because the in focus flowers lead from the right corner to the moth.

I love steam railroading, and this photo captures the whole experience of the water stop. The POV and the way you framed this one keeps the whole scene nice and compact without leaving out anything.
Here's how they do the same operation, taking on water, in New Mexico on the Cumbres & Toltec RR.

It's not as tidy, but it gets the 5,000 gallon tank on the tender filled up quickly.

Converting this to B&W certainly made a different image of it. It's much better this way. The stools look almost like an optical illusion this way.

For me, your wake, and the way it ties the lower to the upper part of the photo, is the most interesting feature in this image. I also think about it being a good idea to put the post there so that it marks the breakwater at high tide.

This is a view that I like a lot. When you get to try this sort of shooting again, try a few using tungsten (incandescent) WB, and you will get that wonderful moonlight blue. This scene looks very peaceful.
