My son went to the water park yesterday & when he came home hung his beach towel on the back deck railing. I just went out to collect it to throw in the wash and found this stuck to it. He's dead. I wasn't sure at first, LOL, and he did make me do a step back, then went to get the camera.

It's a cicada for those that asked... //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cicada

When I was stationed in Korea, we had some Cicada's appear out of nowhere... This is the first time I've been pleased to see one. They scared the leaving hell out of me/grossed me out when I saw it in person! Huge kudos for getting that close!

Beautifully executed (the photo of course). Cicadas are such fun if a bit noisy creatures especially for scaring girls with. What a rare time it was when the 17-year "Locusts" came out when we were kids.

These guys are so interesting to look at in detail. Your BG is an amazing accent to the bug.

We have a lot of these here where I live because of the big oak trees in my yard. They are very sound oriented. If I am using a blower on an air hose, they will come to it like a moth to a light. They zero in on some of the frequencies, probably higher than we can hear. They come to a hand grinder as well.
You did a very nice job on the photograph.

Way, way cool cicada shot :-) It may be accidental, but it's accidentally awesome, the textural interplay.

Well, that's ONE way to get a killer bug macro... The color and texture of the towel really work well too.

Cicada, you say. Thanks for that.
It'd be great if all bugs stayed still. I hate it when they move... and they sure do move a lot.

Roz quality :-| AWESOME.

I should have a ROZ-Level for bug macros. ROZ-1 through ROZ-10. This image is definitely Roz-10 :P
