I think the issue with this one is the lighting being a bit too harsh. Flash or just a strong light source from above (given the shadow under your chin) and behind your shoulder. I think that I might have cropped out much more of the background and perhaps, a tighter crop to get more just to your beautiful face and make that the focus of the shot.

Really interesting shot. The blow-out contrast is what makes it interesting but, I'm wondering how it is being taken by some of the "purists" who prefer less overexposure??? I'm going to watch this one post challenge to see how it does because it's really different. :)

I don't really consider this a "portrait shot" but, it's very well executed! Must have taken quite a bit to get the focus right in the lighting condidtions.
