Very effective interpretation of challenge. What seems to make it doubletakeish is that the black reflection of boat and boatpeople is stronger than their 'reality.' (Possible that in colour this would not be quite so much the case?)

First, there is just enough detail/composition in this photo to say what you want to say; second, I have always felt uneasy looking at the primates in a zoo; but third, your subject's expression indicates an acceptance way beyond what we seem capable of. Good job.

The Gathering

One of the best of this type I've seen, maybe the best. Alway drawn to this type in painting and photog, but often on closer inspection feel disappointed because I feel something has been faked or pushed too far. Yours seems just right - don't know if it is the light on the clouds, or even just having the clouds and the way they belong to or emanate from the mountains, because this is what seems to tie the mountains to earth, so to speak, and makes it not just an abstract. Awesome, to me, black and white.
