 I was driving back from my hiking excursion in Joshua Tree National Park and was watching this scene develop over the mountains surrounding Palm Springs. I just couldn't resist stopping & grabbing a few shots & am so glad I did as this is one type of composition I've always wanted to do and I feel it came out fairly well.

I had submitted this for the Contre-jour challenge until I realized that I had actually taken it before the challenge was announced. Not noting the 3 hour time difference almost got me DQ'd...

One of the best of this type I've seen, maybe the best. Alway drawn to this type in painting and photog, but often on closer inspection feel disappointed because I feel something has been faked or pushed too far. Yours seems just right - don't know if it is the light on the clouds, or even just having the clouds and the way they belong to or emanate from the mountains, because this is what seems to tie the mountains to earth, so to speak, and makes it not just an abstract. Awesome, to me, black and white.

omg omg ..... EXCELLENT ....... so simple yet so effective ... wot a shame about the bloody date!! .... i hope you were able to find an image just as awesome for the contre-jour??
