Week 7 - Ready to Set Sail Captainby CapeSailComment: Very nice! I love his gaze off to the right...This portrait wouldn't have been nearly as good for me if he had been staring at the camera - following the "rules". Also the tones are excellent and the sky has plenty of detail for my taste.
I'll practice a little for next week's critical commenting and say that I don't really like the tight crop on the bottom. I would love to see both hands because they are so interesting and tell a story on their own. |

Catching up on the news...by trevytrevComment: LOL, awesome shot! My 5 month old son uses his bumbo seat a lot..that thing is a great invention!
The picture itself is so captivating! It speaks volumes to me... This would have made a great environmental portrait too LOL!

Canada Goose Launchby VeioletsComment: I can see how this would be very tricky to take, but you have done a great job! I'm amazed that you captured the detail in the geese and the snow...truly amazing technical feat! I wonder how it would look if you dodged the sky and made it brighter to match the foreground creating a frame? Looks great as is though...wonderful shot! |

jetty railby VeioletsComment: It is a nice red rail, but the ice is so nice! I would have prefered this with no selective desat personally. Also, it looks odd having the top rail and middle rail still gray....
I think if you had focused your attention on captureing the rail and made it the subject before turning it red (perhaps getting closer to it or from a different angle) then it would have worked better in the end...just my opinion though! |

Beckaby of-snowComment: Her expression looks very natural and I really like the lighting, especially the bright "hair" light from behind. Some people will probably find it distracting, but I actually quite like it.
I love the fact that you have included the carvings in the tree for a little extra added dimension and intrigue.
The hand placement seems unnatural to me especially the lower hand so maybe a less cropped version would look better (so that her whole elbow is in the shot thus connecting her hand to her body).
The lighting is good, but you might consider dodging some on her face and burning the tree some to create more contrast and pop.

Times Square (e301 perspective)by pawdrixComment: Wow, so much going on...you can look and look at this shot and find all kinds of interesting things! That one white stretch limo is really stealing the show graphicly though and I think he is about to hit that one guy walking! Great capture. |

Midtown Afternoonby kolasiComment: I really like the way you have composed this with the open foreground and leading lines drawing me in to the dark people. It is interesting that they are all doing something different like they don't know each other yet are sitting so close. Great capture. |

Ebisu Gardenby kolasiComment: Wow, I really love this shot Kolasi! The patters are awesome. I do wish those shadows were a little darker to add some more contrast. |

Southeastby GermaineComment: I really didn't think that I was going to like this when looking at the thumbnail, but the larger version is awesome! The soft surface and gaussian blur really sets this off. I love the water! Great job on the processing. |
