My nose is heart-shapedby bubeltrubelComment: Beautiful shot! It was in my top ten, so I was hoping to see it on the front page... Regardless, congrats on a fantastic score & placement in a challenge that had some seriously stiff competition :) |

a small dog with a big heartby rozComment: Such a great pose & composition, Roz! I think the softness killed you here, though...
Thanks for the nice comment - I added a note to my comment for Rhoda's portrait, as I did indeed deliberately borrow your title! :~) |

Ready for the Rainby JohnnyPhDComment: Wow - I'm stunned that this is all the way down at 6oth! I picked this for a top 10 at least - if not a ribbon.
Well done, regardless of where the votes fell. |

Breakfastby HaneckComment: When it comes to reflective surfaces, a good rule of thumb is to make your light source as large as possible in relation to the subject. You enlarge light sources via bounce or diffusion (large pieces of vellum, gatorboard/white cardboard, or fabric).
I liked your concept here, but confess I got hung up on the details: 1) fabric wrinkles 2) diffuse surface on the inside of the glass which made it look dirty 3) unmotivated knife (a pat of butter to go along with it would have sufficed) and 4) the sharp reflections of your light source in the toaster and on the glass.
Not a bad final placement, though, so congrats! |
