Saw the brown ribbon from the Apple challenge.
And I loved the idea, however thought a remake was needed.
Self portrait, think my expression is a bit silly, but i guess it works.

minimal editing:
levels
cooling filter (shot in vivid, oops)
cloned out some imperfections on my face as well as sensor dust
neat image
sharpen
resize

Yeah I used two lights (small tungsten bulbs) and lit from each side. One high and one low as you can see on in the reflection of my eyes.

Nice shot... do you have any sort of professional lighting, or is that just regular lamps that were in your basement? I LOVE the brown in your eyes... you're beautiful!:)

Thanks Cher, and critique club.
I usually prefer to have the critique club check out my photos. It is nice to get some constructive criticism, from people who truly mean it.
Thanks for your time!

*Critique Club*

Dont know why you requested a critique as this is a wonderful image and DPC thought so too. only things I see that might have made this 1st place is the blur of the skewers in the apple. I think they shouldve been in the same focus as the apple. The color BG (tho not distracting at all) wouldve been nice to see a blue or yellow to make you and the apple really jump out. and of course that tiny hot spot on the nose. I think you did an outstanding job! I really love the eyes! congrats on 3rd place!

congrats on the ribbon, however, i think you missed one of the crucial points in the original. i believe it was called "whoops i missed the first time" because the guy had a gash on his forehead, which we are led to believe was caused by the archer missing the first shot.
well done though.

This is really cute and very nicely done. My only quibble? In the original, there is a scab on the forehead that represents the "first shot" that "missed"; I wish you had included this element, to be faithful to the original concept :-) Congrats on the ribbon!

Nice, but it looks slightly heavy handed on the use of NI, or a similar tool. She almost looks like a mannequin

I like this one. The skewer should be more in focus.

She looks like Paige Davis!!!!! Good one. Light a touch harsh on the nose.

Obviously the technicals are way better than the original. Not sure why you didn't recreate the scar from the original since without it the title makes no sense.

beautiful shot. just the girl over the other subject is an improvement. I love the sharp focus on her eyes and the apple. the drops on the apple are also a nice touch. the only things are that you have some slight haloing and you could have benefitted from a different colored background. lighting is great

Phenonminal photo, but I think you may have missed the point on the brown ribbon... the scar on the guys head was the miss... Still wonderful, high score.

This apears to totally meet the challenge and is an obviously strong attempt at re-creating the original. Personally, I was unable to do that exact thing with mine:) 10

technically close to perfection, good focus, good lighting except for the highlights on her nose. drops on apple are overdone IMO. Had cropped below her eyes to keep closer connection to the original
