Squaw Peakby AliciaComment: Lol don't know, that's how you guarantee a rainstorm? Love how the mountains and trees look in the black and white. Almost like they have some kind of eerie glow. |

day 25. 50 day square crop. truckby rozComment: I love the PP (or else you have a very dirty window and better get it cleaned up asap lol). I love that you chose to have the wiper bisect the frame like this. |

day 24. 50 days square crop. a frogby rozComment: I love the blue tones here. He looks so lost and tired (and slimy! lol). I personally like the DOF because it adds great emphasis to his face. What I really LOVE tho is the border. Did you add some kind of radial blur to the canvas? Do tell - it is awesome! |

day 23. 50 days square crop. kangaroos on the firetrailby rozComment: Great story Roz. I am glad it was not a pack of dogs coming towards you. I'm also glad that the kangaroos took off as soon as katee went after them.
You are so lucky to get a pic like this! If it were me, I would have just stood there and watched and forgotten that I had a camera with me. I love how they are frozen in the moment here and although they seem to be far away, you can still make out the details in their faces.
You are fortunate to have such a variety of animals to photograph. If this were my story, it would have been three squirrels instead of kangaroos lol. |

definition of portrait - likeness of person or animal (this is an animal!)by rozComment: You know, I am assuming that people gave you a low score because this portrait is of an animal as opposed to a human being. And that cracks me up because I am pretty sure that the challenge description does not say PEOPLE only. So the DPC voting literalists have failed in this case.
I think people misunderstand how difficult it is to take a portrait of an animal especially when you do not have the "perfect" studio light settings. These animals are going to do what they please and are not usually holding still all pretty until you are done.
I think sometimes it is difficult to create a mood and essence of a person with photography. This is great because to me this photo gives off a mood of pensive thought. The animal is either thinking of something or is basking in the warmth of the light. I love the detail and the texture that you can see on the animal's fur and horn. The lighting particularly on the mouth is wonderful. It looks as tho it is about to speak or kiss lol.
Great pic, deserved to score higher. |

Day 26 On the fringe of the madding crowdby jonfrommkComment: Shall we call you JP (Jon Peter) or JC (Jon Clumbsy) or a combo of the two now? (oooh JPC - you could be almost like a twin to DPC).
I hope for your sake you will soon learn that not many things bounce on concrete - especially if you some day get a DSLR. That would be an expensive lesson to learn.
Are my eyes going bad? Because I do not see a lot of noise or graininess. I think your choice of black and white fits the mood that most people probably feel at 7 AM as they head off to work. Nice capture of the hustle and bustle of the morning life. That crowd does not look like a fun one headed up that ramp. I, too, like the "Way Out" sign. It would be more fun tho if one day it just said "Do Not Enter".
I can see you smiling at the grumps just for the hell of it. Troublemaker. |
