Composition Good although I feel that the chess board gives the impression that it is tilted!
Camera work Good although the motion blur of the moving pieces has carried itself over to the pawns at the top right corner.
Digital processing Good
My Opinion
Novel idea very well executed ! I would have preferred more contrast to the background as the pieces in the front blend into the table.

Composition I liked the way the light trails led one into the image also the interest that the starred lights provide.
Camera work Very good.
My Opinion A cliche image that has been well thought out and executed. The only thing that I find distracting is the pool of white at the left but I think that was a bit out of the photographers control.
Well done!

The Stairwalkerby jgillardComment: Critique Club
Composition Too centred with to much uneeded space at the sides. Shows motion.
Background - The background is too dull!
Camera work The image is technically good but very dark.
Digital processing The colours needed some hue and saturation to lift them a bit they all look rather washed out
My Opinion
The image meets the challenge but needs some life the colours are too dull and the image doesn't say look at me! |

Horses on the Moveby pookey83Comment: Critique Club
Composition There is too much background in this shot and because it is beautiful it is distracting! It would have been better to have zoomed in on the horses or stood to one side and got the horses side view on.
Camera work The whole shot is slightly out of focus and a bit soft. I Know motion blur can work but this is not motion blur.
Digital processing A bit of usm might help but be careful of affecting the colours try changing to lab colour and sharpening on the lightness channel, then change back to jpeg. Not sure if this is allowed under the rules, but it doesn't have as much impact on the colour of the image.
My Opinion A very nice shot that didn't quite come off.

yeah... we lost again.by awmk1981Comment: Critique Club
Composition This shot is too centered and I dont think taking it through the net helps. There is motion in it but not enough!
Camera work Metering could be better as the overall shot is dark and a little flat although there is good saturation of the colours. The fact that it was shot through the net is adding to the darkness of the shot
Digital processing Perhaps playing with the levels could have brightened this a bit.
My Opinion I felt that subject was good but angles and lighting was not as well thought out as it could have been.

Bottleby gandersComment: Critique Club
Composition I think a portrait orientation would work better for this image it looks a bit cut short for want of a better description.
Background - Beautiful blue tones!
Camera work As you say the bottom of the bottle is out of focus, but it actually doesn't detract from the shot
Digital processing good you haven't been tempted to overdo the processing.
My Opinion I cant say much more about this shot except that I like it very much Congrats on coming up with an innovative idea that relly worked!
Good Shooting with your new camera

Bad Beat Bluesby hardwaybetsComment: Critique Club
Composition- Good, I would have liked to have seen more of the blue backs of the cards.
Background - Good complementary not intrusive
Camera work-Technically very good. White balance and focus spot on.
My Opinion This is technically an excellent photo but it just doesn't say wow look at me!

Blue Sky, Blue Spruce, White Snowby alanfreedComment: Critique Club
Composition - I feel this image is spoiled by the inclusion of the snow in the foreground, If you had just the trees and that glorious sky it would have been a better composition.
Background - your sky is beautiful.
Camera work Your technical camera work is excellent beautifully exposed. The offending snow is also correctly exposed, it so often can look dingy and dull. Focus good.
Digital processing Maybe lighten the trees a tad.
My Opinion I liked the image but felt it just fell short somehow I think it didn't have a strong enough focal point, and the snow was
to distracting. |

My Room Through A Teacupby lamentComment: Critique Club
COMPOSITION - CONTENT -BACKGROUND - I feel you should have focused on one aspect of the room or perhaps set-up a still life of some sort
CAMERA WORK -TECHNICAL - I get the feeling that you were playing around using the tea cup as a filter?you might have got a better effect with artifical lighting rather than the window in the background! very interesting idea.
DIGITAL PROCESSING - TECHNICAL - would be interesting to see what a bit of unsharp mask would do to this image
YOUR OPINION ON THE PHOTO -
I actually voted this image a 5 overall because I felt that it did meet the challenge with its pools of rather nice shades of blue and white. .
