Thick As Thievesby RebeccaComment: Getting the exposure right when shooting up to the sky like this must be quite challenging, but you have got it right. The yellows against the blue make for a bold and attractive colour scheme, and it is pleasing to see that there isn't any fringing around the edges. It is a bit of a shame that none of the trees are truly vertical - I would have liked one to be fully perpendicular, to act as an anchor for my eyes. As it is, I find myself dizzily tilting to one side. |

A Bolt in Roseby lynnesiteComment: That must have been an impressive sight to witness - hope you didn't get too wet! It is a shame that the cloud and light from the the lightning bolt has obscured the rest of the hills in the distance - the small glimpse we get at the left edge leaves me wishing for more, but here you were clearly at the mercy of nature! |

Hope he knows it's hunting season.by jimsappComment: Oh, nicely captured! Which acting school did thid deer go to? - he certainly knows how to pose. Wildlife photography is often characterised by shallow depths of field to isolate the subject from its surroundings, but your choice of a small aperture giving the widest possible dof was, I am sure, the right one. The even texture of the grass as a backdrop is spot on, my only tiny, tiny nag is a very small patch between the nose and the left hand edge of the frame which my eye seems to have a fascination with! |

Angelby Gaby_GComment: I feel that this is one of those photographs that holds enormous appeal to the parents, but less for unconnected viewers. The pose is reminiscent of some little porcelein figures that were popular a while back - not really to my taste, but a perfectly valid artistic expression, and one that I am sure will appeal to many. The uncluttered composition, and the stage style spotlight on the sleeping child certainly focus the viewers' attention in a way that is really quite soothing to the eye - you can feel the quiet and calm of the scene. The skin seems a little too smooth and polished, although it is good to see the detail in the dress. The boots seem a little incongruous with the summer dress, and my eye is drawn to the splodge on the bottom of the lower one, and I find myself wondering if the little girl has stepped on some chewing gum, which rather spoild the over-all effect ;¬) |

True Gritby StrikeslipComment: A well posed and composed portrait with a good level of detail in both the shadow and highlight areas. The sepia effect isn't entirely to my taste; on a personal level, I suspect I might prefer a somewhat more muted tone. |

Houdini the escape artist.by robstComment: A good crisp portrait, although a little let-down by the uninspiring background. The deatil in the eye looks amazing. |

A sea-side walk by indy79Comment: Excellent use of leading lines - the waves, the child, the ripples in the sand and the reflected light. |

In Van Gogh's Gardenby NeilComment: Ver. very pretty - almost painterly. The bokeh, and the light, are wonderful and really show the flower off to best advantage - the back-lighting on the stem is exquisite. Super work! |

Only the time will tell ...by SiggikalliComment: The sharp focus on the eyes is good, but the incredibly shallow depth of field (possibly post-processed?) provides a rather confused reaction in me, giving an impression of the cat being almost disembodied. I think this effect is possibly exaggerated by the fact that the black of the cat has merged completely with the shadow. |
