Nice halo effect behind the tree, definitely draws the eye to the subject. I feel this may be a tad oversharpened. One thing I do think would really help it pop would be to clone out the tree on the left edge. The greys indicate that you used a render/spotlight effect or similar and I think it's a bit distracting. Really like the composition, though!

Day 9 - Blossom

Very pretty blossoms and nice details. I think you could up the contrast quite a bit and the flowers would pop from the branches more. I do realize you've got a tricky situation with that white sky, but since it is already quite light, it might not hurt to let is blow completely and bring out the flowers?

Really nice sunburst - adds a lot to this photo! Consider cropping a bit off right for more of a "rule of thirds" composition? Think it might add a little more punch. The dynamic range is beautiful here. Well done.

Normally I'm not a fan of photos that show no facial features, but this one works very well as an emotive shot. I also think the crop, though large, enhances the overall effect.

Hi Peter, I think you've been getting robbed lately. I was one of your 7's, and I might have bumped it up had I gone back. I think this has a message, excellent DOF, and excellent composition. I suspect you got hurt by the very slightly blown areas on the sand - people are technical sticklers with this type of competition. Still think you got robbed on an excellent entry!

This is a moving image with a lot of motion and depth. I'm not sure about the toning, but I think that's more of a stylistic preference than a technical criticism.
