Lonley by skariComment: Greetings from the Critique Club....?
Not a lot to say about this shot. There's not really any way to improve it in any event. As pointed out, a tiny bit of movement in the bow made some of it a little less sharp but its neglible. The long shutter speed gave the water a extremely smooth appearance which I think is part of what makes this shot. The reflection is also terrific. Composition is bang on. I'd like to give the 5 people who only gave this a a 4 or 5 a slap in the head. Great entry. Congrats on the blue! |

I DIDN'T DO IT -- PROMISE!!!!by karmatComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
As pretty much every commenter below states: Soooo cute. That aside, the lighting is great. The crop is a little tight at the top unfortunately and I see a spot of hair near the top that is actually green. (Perhaps more due to the background than the actual hair)
I like the off angle composition of this as it adds to the "I didn't do it" feeling your daughter is portraying.
Overall: Well done. A great shot that definitely captured the mood at the time. |

blues by IsabellSchatzComment: This was one of my favorites during the challenge. I love the circular catch lights in the eyes. Good control of the DOF. Congrats on your first ribbon.
edit to add: hmm..apparently this is comment number 1400 for me. Well thank you for being part of a milestone! Message edited by author 2008-06-04 00:52:44. |

Gone in 60 Secondsby StOlafPhotographerComment: Greetings from the critique club.
To be honest, my motion pans haven't been the greatest but there are a few tips I can pass on.
Try to capture the object when it is perpendicular to you (i.e. right in front of you) rather than at an angle.
Also try to get your aperture correct to get the whole object in focus, yet being shallow enough to leave the background blurred.

This means that you might have needed a longer lens in this situation so that you get a narrower depth of field. (So roughly speaking 55 mm at f/8 would probably be about right in this situation). What this means is that the subject doesn't have to moving that fast to get the background blurred properly and you can concentrate on getting sharp focus on the subject.
Now I have to go try all this out... |

Fataleby TOYComment: Nice shot in terms of composition in lighting. The focus is off unfortunately. (Strangely the good focus is on her forehead) |

Morning Gloryby MelethiaComment: A bit oversaturated in my opinion (particularly in the oranges beneath the tree) . I love the composition though: It has nice strong wedges and great leading lines. |
