Stained Glass Patterby jaysonmcComment: This is very lovely, but is an image made up entirely of a work of art. Therefore I am giving a 6 because the color and light was captured very nicely. |

...two lost souls Swimming in a fishbowl...by xianartComment: Decent score and 7 '10's. Well deserved. I think you did and excellent job of illustrating that line. A red and blue Fighting Fish swimming gracefully would really have made this shot awesome, but that's pie in the sky, because it would have messed up your souls. |

Burning flames rise in her eyes ...by levyj413Comment: Are you still married? :) I would like to see this with the nose cropped off and the eyes right in the middle. The light on the bridge of the nose would echo the light on the forehead, and the composition might be very mysterious. |

Boot in Brownby TruegshtComment: I don't care for the large blur in the foreground. I want to see more of the toe of the shoe. The crop at the top is too tight; it nicks off the top edge of the scallop. The brown is excellent, and the focus (where it is sharp) captures the texture of the leather very nicely. Also I think a diagonal shot might have worked well for this. |

Flank of a bay mareby snafflesComment: The light and focus is so good I know exactly what it would feel like to stroke the coat. Nice going. Solid technically, but lacks a point of interest. |

Unscrupulous Nature Photographerby posthumousComment: This is so brown it looks like it has a sepia tint. As a matter of fact, I think I gave it a 5 because of that. I think the sepia shots were pretty poor efforts for the brown challenge. Sorry I lumped yours in with that category. I think these natural brown are very nice, and I should have realized from the blue lens on the camera that it wasn't a tint. |

Fancy Danby raishComment: Raish, I like this one a lot. The use of the mirror allows us to see the brown of the front of the shoe and the tan of the lining. Cleaver idea. All those brown shades and textures revolving around the subject of a shoe shine are an excellent composition. I really don't know why it didn't score higher. Maybe it's cropped a little tight on the top and bottom, and the mirror doesn't seem quite clean enough (a little distracting). |

Another brown outtakeby mistComment: This looks like you put a gausian blur on the whole thing and then masked a little in the lower right corner. I'm not partial to blurry photos unless the blur is in the background to clarify the subject. I think I would like this shot if I could see the whole thing.
Having said that, I think this might work if the foreground was blurred and got clearer as you go toward the back. The thing (whatever it is) is forming a line that leads from the lower right to the upper left power point (where the top and left thirds intersect), and when the eye gets there, there is nothing to see.
Just thinking aloud; hope you don't mind. |

Brown Outtakeby mistComment: What's a flake? It looks sugary. I think you are right that it wouldn't have scored very well -- the focus isn't good enough for most voters. Also I think they like to be able to identify the object. It's a nice brown and the lighting is good. |
