I still love this shot, and am envious. I think Waddy might be right about the muted colors reducing the impact, even though Mary liked the low saturation. I think that although the dark part in the feathers below his beak gives him a very stern expression, it overpowers his real mouth, which I'd like to see featured a bit more. I like the way you finished the image with the border. Congrats for the good score and high placement in this crowded challenge.

I really like this effect. I was wondering how voters would interpret zoom burst. It seems that quite a few considered that legit for camera movement. I have no opinion on that but I do love this technique. Very well done!
