I like the shot, lot of character. Background is fine, making me focus on his head. Colors look just right and military asspciation is a nice touch with his content smile. Only possible tip, reduce red noise (seen on hat), sharpen and bringing out the shadows of the shirt a little?

I like the idea behind it, the boots walking by, the city lights, some london traits (phone booths, gates, etc.). However, I feel your composition is only in the top half, again like the other shot, very dark too. I'd work on possibly cropping, bringing out the shoe just a little (burn) and increasing detail in the background. Again, if you have the RAW, big plus. If you don't shoot in it, make the change today! I'm by no means a star photographer or even a good one, which is why post processing in my case makes up for the gap and makes me maybe an "average" photographer :) Good luck

It's really dark, buttt.... if you still have the .raw file you could HDR process and really bring out some parts like the buildings in the background and even create detail in the dark areas.
