Pistachio/Plumby GeneralEComment: Pretty bokeh; shot is a little contrasty and overexposed for me. I just like my flowers softer; could be a girl thing ;-) |

IrisA1.jpgby kleskiComment: I just love daylilies! They always seem to draw me in. You've captured that beautiful middle perfectly; I'd go for a really tight crop to make it more prominent. |

4069 Camelliaby pixelpigComment: What I like best about this is the two centers appearing to be reaching out to one another. The petals are just a soft, romantic background to that "action" in my imaginative little mind. So that's what I would emphasize; the perspective is perfect, I'd just want to keep the whole center from both flowers if possible.
There are all sorts of things you can try with cropping: putting the intersection point between the flowers on a rule of thirds, putting the exact center of each flower on a rule of thirds, cropping so there is an equal amount of space above and to the right of the centers and a different equal amount on the bottom and left, cropping so they are dead center (so to speak) with equal amounts of petal background on all sides, or whatever occurs to you. I often crop and re-crop several times before I find the one I like. You can also try rotating the image between 10 and 30 degrees to see if that makes the composition more interesting for you before cropping. Play; it's fun :-) |

High Contrast Desert Four O'Clockby quicheComment: Looks like one of those dances where everyone is in a line and then one after another falls out to the side. The flower and it's closest leaf went first ;-) Either that, or they're playing peek-a-boo. |

Anemone XIIby banmornComment: It's going to be great fun to have a whole month of your flower shots :-) The patterns and textures and colors are just mesmerizing. Makes me want to gently stroke those velvety petals. |

Flower Day 1by PatsfanComment: They look like silk flowers to me. Not that there's anything wrong with that; they're certainly easier to maintain ;-) The bud parts remind me of little melons. |
