These pink camellias were shot in the open shade (not under a tree, like the blue spiderwort). I post-processed to enhance the contrast. Framing the original shot in the viewfinder or LCD has always been a challenge for me. Cropping the shot is another big challenge for me. The things I think might be wrong with this is a mid-point 'horizon' line & the small amount of BG information at the bottom edge. If you have any comment or reaction, I'm very interested.

lovely colors and delicate feel in this image - i wish the stamens on the right were a bit more in focus, but it is a pretty image

What I like best about this is the two centers appearing to be reaching out to one another. The petals are just a soft, romantic background to that "action" in my imaginative little mind. So that's what I would emphasize; the perspective is perfect, I'd just want to keep the whole center from both flowers if possible.

There are all sorts of things you can try with cropping: putting the intersection point between the flowers on a rule of thirds, putting the exact center of each flower on a rule of thirds, cropping so there is an equal amount of space above and to the right of the centers and a different equal amount on the bottom and left, cropping so they are dead center (so to speak) with equal amounts of petal background on all sides, or whatever occurs to you. I often crop and re-crop several times before I find the one I like. You can also try rotating the image between 10 and 30 degrees to see if that makes the composition more interesting for you before cropping. Play; it's fun :-)

Very pretty. Not sure what I would change, perhaps try to crop out the black space at the right hand corner, but that's about it.

So delicate, so soft, and very pretty, especially the silk like petals.
Excellent focus on the center of the flower blossom.
A wonderful start to this sige challenge.

I wouldn't change anything! It's beautiful just the way it is. Such gorgeous detail!

Flamboyant is the first word that comes to me.
I wouldn't change a thing.

I don't think that I'd crop it much differently because it seems you might end up too centered. The dark bg on the right I don't think is a problem as the contrast just keeps my eyes moving to the left.

Looks like the flower on the left is where the camera was focussing, I think you could have given it a little more space. Promising shot though.

Hey pixelpig, don't beat yourself up. Image is great. If you are looking for comments to change things a little, my only suggestion would be to crop more out on the right and slightly more on the bottom. Go for a very tight crop to eliminate some more of that black. Your intended focus seems to be the center of the flower. That crop would move it even more so to the center and bring the stamen forward. IMHO
