Dance Charlotte 640.jpgby judojoeComment: In answer to your forum thread question (photo for the lady's parents)
To be honest, I wouldn't pick this pose as something for THE photo to be given/framed.
I think it is a nice shot that would look great as part of a series, but I would prefer a different pose for THE photo. |

Pele's Newest Landscapeby levyj413Comment: I didn't vote on this challenge, and you sure have a fascinating photo there!
However, you had a problem with people who didn't consider this "rural", so allow me to quote from Wikipedia to help you understand why those voters might have felt that way:
Quote: "Rural areas (also referred to as "the country," and/or "the countryside") are settled places outside towns and cities. Such areas are distinct from more intensively settled urban and suburban areas, and also from unsettled lands such as the outback, American Old West or wilderness. Inhabitants live in villages, hamlets, on farms and in other isolated houses." |

Don't you envy my lazy rest?by dcanossaComment: Since you asked in the forum thread, here is my 10 cents worth:
Perhaps the soft look wasn't the problem. Perhaps voters felt that is was just a snapshot with a messy background.
I didn't vote on it, but when I had a look at the photo just now, those were the first things I noticed.
If it wasn't for that, I'd quite like the soft look in this case, too. |

Trinity Fountainby JudiComment: Aaaaahhhhhh, the Trevi fountain!
I was there a whole bunch of years ago and I DID throw my coins in,too.
I even did it the proper way to ensure that I'll come back: with my right hand over my left shoulder, then walked away without looking back.
I'm still crossing fingers that I"ll make it back there some day. |

Ink Diffusion Paintingby soozComment: I love the colorful turbulences in that jar, and I have a few suggestions for improvements:
1) Pay attention to your background. Seeing that crooked line is way too distracting. If you sat the jar on a large piece of paper or cardboard, then extend it upwards behind the subject, you would have a flawless, seamless background.
2)Play with some adjustments (like curves) so the white actually looks white and the colors look their best, too.
3) Minimize reflections by very careful lighting, the use of a circular polarizer (filter), placement of camera vs glass, and possibly by holding up something black in front of the glass - close to it, but just out of view.
4) Some extra props might liven up the composition. |

Geisha Studioby heavyjComment: Very nice! Would you pretty please show us the original components of this as well? It would help me figure out what's what.

Thank you for adding those and for letting me know, too!
Much appreciated indeed. Message edited by author 2008-06-04 00:09:06. |

Very Xtreme Yellowby InsideComment: Wow, what a shoehorn!
Even if "extreme" actually started with an X, you STILL wouldn't have managed three letters in a row. Your grade 1 teacher would be very disappointed :-( |
