love the diagonals. you took this at absolutely the right time of day, with the shadows moving in the direction of the grain rows. Even the wisp of cloud cooperated. nice colours, and the deep DOF works nicely. bump up from original vote.

remarkably sharp. beautiful depth and texture. would like to see a little more light on his face, esp around the eye (would have to be done post-processing i'd assume, since fill-flash and reflectors tend to irritate birds :). like the centred crop, and the white border works to balance the image out.
very nice.

colours are awesome. could mebbe have dodged the highlights on his body a little under the wings to brighten him up. composition is nice...the square crop seems to go over well here.nice and shallow DOF is uber cool.

awesome. ok, it freaks me out a little, but i love it. as with most images, i'd like to see it a little more contrasty; burn the shadows, and dodge the highlights on her face, and it would be one of my favourites for sure. well done.

this is clearly the best direction he could have been facing for this shot. colours seem a little flat (maybe a little overexposure to keep the details in the bear?), but i like it other than that. 7

sweet. was this little guy actually blue or was that hue shifting at play? selective desaturation is nowhere near my favourite technique, but works well enough here. in fact he might have disappeared without it, so no deductions from me :) nice job.

neat image (or whatever noise reduction program you used) destroyed the details in the highlights. NI and and similar programs need to be used judiciously, and in conjunction with sharpening (only in the full version of NI) to get the real value.
Despite that, this image is pretty cool, and will make a nice print if you choose to do so...it has an ethereal quality to it...a halo of sorts. good luck in the challenge.

interesting idea - a lot like Alecia's Mirrors entry, which i also liked a lot. The eyebrow is a perfect touch, though i can't tell if it's real of edited (which is a good thing). The 'rest of the scene' could be more interesting (or less, as the case may be). as it stands it's pretty random. I'd likely have tried to make te whole backdrop uniform, rather than allowing the white to show through at the top. all in a ll, a very good shot. i like it.

impressive exposure - very difficult conditions to expose correctly. highlights are pretty sharp, and the light falloff is very smooth. i might have burned the little catchligts or reflections or whateverthe hotspots on the right are so the pic fell off into complete blackness, but that's just me. very unique entry.
