This would be a good shot; however it appears over processed - over sharpened.

The white is blurry. The eye is excellent. Nicely done.

Beautiful! If you got this shot in his "natural" environment, I want to know where your stalking grounds are! Can't get "our" eagles to be still for a moment. Wonderful lighting and composition.

Did you neat image this - all the feather detail has been lost
10/09/2004 01:28:20 AM
His expression is wonderful. Wish there was more detail in his feathers.

Very nice picture. The beak and eyes are well focused but the feathers seem quite blurry. It looks like they might have lost some detail in some way.

feathers seem a bit blown out across the top

I'm not sure what effect you were going for, but I'm not really digging it. Other than the effect, I like it. The colors are nice, and the image is sharp. Detail is good, although I think it'd be greater without the effect.

Great eye - but your post processing did you in. Way too unrealistic as is.

Wow... he looks ticked! Seriously... Nice thought behind the image, but it seems pixilated... perhaps by sharpening... perhaps intentionally. For me... that distracts from the image. Good luck...

Love the bird. Love his look. Don't love the filter work. For me a tack-sharp photo with none of the post processing would have been much stronger. Still I'm giving this a 7 because of the excellent placement of the bird and the effect of the lighting.

Great shot with some wacky effect that I assume is intentional. Not sure it does anything for the picture though. I would have preferred to have seen the original detail. 9 without the wacky effect. 8 with it.

neat image (or whatever noise reduction program you used) destroyed the details in the highlights. NI and and similar programs need to be used judiciously, and in conjunction with sharpening (only in the full version of NI) to get the real value.
Despite that, this image is pretty cool, and will make a nice print if you choose to do so...it has an ethereal quality to it...a halo of sorts. good luck in the challenge.

Sorry, but I do not like the processing.

nice filter application.. but wasnt this challenge basic editing? then again i could be totally wrong on both.. looks good!
10/04/2004 09:06:27 AM
looks over processed

Bit strange effect - look like oil painting or water colors effect in ps.
I found the thumbnail look better than the actual photo and looks good if you step about 1m back from the monitor.
10/04/2004 08:22:03 AM
Personally I would have like to have seen this with less post processing.
10/04/2004 05:58:17 AM
Is this effect intentional? I don't like it, the feathers lose all detail.
10/04/2004 12:20:25 AM
I like the idea and the eye and beak are very clear, but it looks like the white feathers are over softened or neat imaged to look more painted than natural
