There's Something Fishy Hereby artvetComment: How does this relate to your weekend? I see shoehorn, and DNMC=1
edit,
This is one where I still struggle with raising my vote. Did you go snorkeling? Maybe. How can I tell though? What this looks like to me is a man snorkeling in his studio. the white background makes this shot look staged and therefore I can't say you went snorkeling. It looks like you pur your gear on, and took a studio photo.
Overall this is very creative. I am curious about the fish in the mask and how it was done. the highkey works with the image, it just doesn't convey your weekend to me. If I didn't feel this was a DNMC I would hve voted it an 8 easily. I like it.
However, I am still having a problem coming to grips with how it meets the challenge. If I loosely say well the title doesn't matter he went snorkeling, then it fits. But I think in this challenge and for this image the title matters. I am raising my original DNMC=1 to 5. I would have gone higher if I didn't think the title lets this image down, if only in the context of this challenge. Had this been a free study the title would have fit perfectly. But not in this challenge, in my opinion. And I have to vote based on my opinion. |

Look Before You Leapby irishspongeComment: How does this fit into your weekend? Did you go swimming? Did you go the beach or do you just live there? Is that you on top of the diving board? I see a picture that is SHOEHORNED! DNMC=1
edit;
This is one of those tough ones that I looked at when I voted DNMC. I can't tell from the photo or title if this is something you did over the weekend. I don't know if you had to travel here, or if you live here. I don't know if you were on top of the tower, or if you just caught a picture of someone there. What I do know is that I see a tower with someone up there and the words look before you leap which you have copied to make your title.
I could have seen the theme if the title had said, looked before I lept or something like that, but I still just can't fit it into the challenge.
Other then that I like the photo as far as the subject and the BW but I don't like the woman being in color. I think a bit more contrast could help this as well. |

Macro weekend - Fly with Pollenby andrewtComment: Shoehorn! I don't relate this image to the challenge. Had you said you tested a new macro lens, or practiced macro photos, that would have helped, but simply submitting a macro photo and saying it was Macro weekend doesn't work for me. DNMC=1
edit;
I think I was a little harsh on my DNMC on this one. Looking at it again I can see that you had a Macro Weekend. That in itself should have sufficed. I apologize for originally not giving this picture or title the credit it deserved.
This is a great macro shot. The pollen really makes it special. I am upping my original DNMC=1 to an 8. Best of luck to you on the challenge, and please accept my apologies. |

Don't look now, but they think they're sneaking up on us!by LindaLeeComment: Shoehorn! How does this fit into weekend? I don't know...DNMC=1
edit;
Looking at the photo and the title, I can loosely see how this fit your weekend. I can read it as the deer are saying that you were sneaking up on them and in turn that would mean you snuck up on some deer tot photograph them this weekend.
Overall the photo is delightful. The lighting seems a bit off to me. Almost as if it is missing some contrast. The Sharpness seems more centered on the hind of the mother then on her face.
Without taking DNMC into consideration I would have probably voted this a 6 because of the sharpness and lighting. Adding the fact that the title didn't convey the challenge theme to me very well, I will up my original DNMC=1 to a 5, but will not give the full 6 because I think your title could have done better. |

Real Craftsmanby MaryOComment: How does this relate to your weekend? Is this you? The blown out portions kill a photograph that was already shoehorned into this challenge. DNMC=1
edit;
I am sensing that you went to a fair or a festival to take this photo. In that sense I can see how this photo relates to your weekend. I do wish that you had tied this into your title somehow. the blown out highlights still detract from what is an interesting craftsman.
Taking into consideration the phoito itself, I would have probably voted it a 6 with the highlights and lighting the way it is. Because I feel you didn't convey to me the challenge, I am upping my original DNMC=1 to a 5, but will not give you the 6 I would have otherwise voted. |

Arabian Coltby cryingdragonComment: This relates to your weekend how? Did you give birth to a colt? What? DNMC=1
edit;
I can understand how you travelling to take a picture of the colt would constitute something you did this weekend. But I still think your title could have tied the colt into the challenge a little better.
The photo itself is nice, though I find the rose bush a bit of a distraction from the colt. The front hoof being clipped by the crop is also a hinderance. The color and exposure is nice.
Since I still feel there is some DNMC in this photo, I am raising it from my DNMC=1 to a 5. With the hoof and the rose shrub I would have voted it a 6, but am deducting slightly for the DNMC because I can see that some intent was there. |

Let's Go Bowling!by GeneralEComment: This relates to what you did this weekend how? Sire it is a semi--humorous picture, but DNMC=1
edit;
After looking at the photo again, I can see how this could fit into your weeknd. If you went bowling in the middle of the street on a drunken Saturday I could see how something like this could happen. I do however still feel that you tried to shoehorn and interesting photo into the challenge. Taking all of this into consideration I am raising my orginal DNMC=1 to a 5. |
