Up up, and almost awayby bennettjamieComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Sorry this did not score higher for you, I felt it was worthy of a higher score. On the other hand, you have a Posthumous comment and an Undieyatch award, so hopefully those helped offset any disappointment from the score.
I really liked the fact you actually showed some motion in your picture. Too many in this challenge, for me at least, did not really do that, which was disappointing. Converting to black and white was a good choice in my opinion. I only wonder if perhaps it could have had a little bit less contrast as some of the details are lost due to the very dark shadows. I do like the vignette, that worked very well.
Overall, I thought this was well composed, a good subject that definitely met the challenge. The only reason I didn't score it higher, was I felt it could have had a little bit less contrast.
Well done and again, sorry it didn't score higher. |

They look like they were really enjoying themselves.
There are a few things that I think would have improved this image and garnered you a higher score. Personally I think you have cropped the picture too much. From a compositional point of view, I really think this would benefit with a bit more of the sea in the frame. The picture feels quite small, again I think due to the cropping and resizing for the web. Have you tried using the save for web functionality that comes with many editing packages? This strips the exif data from the file this allowing you to retain better quality images when resizing for the web. I noticed that the exif data was still present in your file, so possibly you would have had a better quality file, if you had saved it for the web.
You got a pretty solid score for this image, I just felt with a few tweaks here and there, this could have scored a bit higher. |
