Love the bokeh, love the tones. Parts of the bug are perfectly focused, but it seems to fade out a bit towards the edges of the wing. I'm not a big fan of centered subjects so I'd probably like it even more if the bug were off to the left, but as it is this is a very pleasing photo to look at. Good work.

Overall, this is nice. I find the vertical line behind her to the right a bit distracting and it looks like a prime candidate for being burned into nonexistance. Pose looks fine to me though I am no portrait expert. Mouth looks a bit odd. Nice tones throughout, though the entire shot could benefit from a bit of a contrast boost. Good work.

I see this technique in some other photogs picture son the site. I can't say I care for it at all, but that's a matter of taste I guess. The shot itself I have a hard time getting my head around. It's an abstract in one sense and a very detailed picture of leaves in another - I find it leaves my mind somewhere in between trying and failing to put it together.

Damn, now that's a 'fro! I like everything about this shot from the girls shoulders up - set against the background that hair is great and her expression (or attempt to hide it) is interesting. I would love to see the same thing but without the bed or whatever she's leaning on - just that stark white background where she's trying to hide herself. Trying to hide where there's nothing to hide behind - I think that would really take this to another level. Good shot!

Like the processing you used here. Quite a bit actually. Have to be honest - I hate the expression on her face. It's just not working for me on any level - scary, humorous, weird - just looks like a pretty girl who ruined your shot lol. But whatever, obviously it's an out-there shot and that isn't going to resonate with all viewers. Goofy friend aside, nice work.

Very nice. I like the high contrast processing and the 'pose' your cat let you shoot it in works well. Nice hint of some grain going on that enhances the overall photo as well.

Highlights

Happy to see someone else who likes a touch of cyan in their BW work. I think burning out the background sort of cut both ways here. It did highlight your subject, but at a cost of what looks like some very nice bokeh action. Not the most exciting scene, but my eye does move to the bright spot which I think was your intent so it succeeds in doing what you intended to do.

Day 6

All around not bad, especially if you aren't shooting portraits all the time (not that I do). Looks to me as if the focus fell on her hair rather than her face, and I think that holds this back a little bit. Otherwise it is a fine attempt.

Would like to see a little more detail across the face of the petals, other than that its a very nice photo with a suprising amount of background detail that doesn't detract from the subject. Well done.

Day 3 - The back side

Sort of like the muted tones as well. Probably not something I would pursue myself, but seeing it here I can't say it doesn't have a certain appeal especially with the subject matter.
