Pansy Budby stargazer05766Comment: Don't know if that's relevant, but maybe if you rotate slightly clockwise, you may be able to crop out the yellow bud in the bg, allowing the subject to stand out just a little bit more. Also, I would try to keep all of the subject in focus (especially the yellow part), helping the separation between subject and bg. |

Garden Nocturneby JutildaComment: You nailed it with the lighting, and by using the oof light to imitate the moon. |

Midnight Reverieby JutildaComment: I agree - I wouldn't lose the bokeh. The non-standard composition is not bad either, as it allows the viewer to wander around and find things (there are things to find) |

Marigoldby MelethiaComment: Flowers in b/w? I didn't think it may work, but you prove me wrong. I like the lighting and how the bud stands out. |

As found on the hillby mitalapoComment: Originally posted by pixelpig: The BG effect is interesting, adds a lot of drama. Inquiring minds want to know---how did you do it? |
I didn't do it. I just photographed it with a wide open lens. The background effect is due to multiple stems being somewhat out of focus. |

Hey, That Seat is Takenby HeiSchComment: Originally posted by SEG: The black dog and the black couch doesn't add enough contrast to the image. The dog is almost lost in the couch. |
Interesting, as I thought the blending of the couch/dog is the subject of this image, and even suggested to enhance that blending. |

Pottedby TCGuruComment: A great image of a sail blowing in the wind, or is it a candle protected from wind? Probably both. |
