Another one going in my faves. This could be/should be a poster! Once again, you demonstrate your eye for composition and the use of B&W to emphasize shapes and tones.

Another beautiful composition. You've really got quite the eye for the interesting when it comes to shapes.

I love this. Into my faves it goes! This reminds me of various paintings, where the point is the overall scene, not the details.

Interesting to compare the two. This version is more about light and shadow, with the shapes taking some time to resolve into a cat. I like it, but I like the color one better because it strike me more as an abstraction of a cat, without sharpness to confuse the mind into thinking the details matter.

Ok, first, I understand why DPC gave it a 4.6, starting with many people probably defining "portrait" to mean "staged, with the pet sitting in a perfect position in front of a perfect background."

Feh! I say. The instant I opened it her eyes grabbed me and they never let go. Yeah, the bright pink is a bit distracting, but I think this is a powerful example of cats' power in general and hers specifically.

I like this, Karen. The lack of sharp focus makes it more about shapes and emotions than the specifics of the actual subject. It just has a nice, graphic feel to it.

Your shot has many nice features, including the shapes of the background walls. I think Mary's B&W treatment added some mystery, whereas this shot is about straightforward fun.

I love the B&W treatment. I think it adds to the air of mystery, enhancing the shot far beyond the simple triangle composition.

Oh, man, Sandy, you really nailed this. The expression, his eyes, the overall composition, his head tilt ... just great!

Ah, very pretty, and a perfect title. Now where's my lemonade and rocking chair? :)
