This is another one of those faces I passed as I was just walking downtown (luckily with my camera), and the minute I saw him, I HAD to have a photograph of him. He was just sitting on a curb on a busy urban street looking kind of lost. I think he is homeless.

When I made eye contact with him, I knew immediately he was approachable, so I just asked him if I could take his picture because I really liked his "look". He has soul! He was so polite and gentlemanly. And its one of my favorite street portraits. I think he is so interesting looking, and seemed like such a nice person.

How do you do it?

There are times when I think I take a decent portrait shot, but you consistantly manage to capture people in a way that shows not only their face, but their humanity as well

This is another glorious example of that ability. A photo that tells of a life, of good times and bad times but where the strength of spirit remains unvanquished

As ever the technical elements are wonderful, but is the fact that as a viewer one gets to see not simply a portrait but a person that astounds me

Probably my second favourite ever portrait that you have taken

Thank you for sharing - and also for the story behind the shot

Great capture. Love the lighting on his face and it's wonderful how so much is in focus. His face says that he has a lot of thoughts to share.
