Little Manby Ja-9Comment: From a distance this is beautiful, but up close there's a lot of pixelization in the eyes. There's also a little around the nostril and the mouth. I imagine you were attempting to bring more sharpness, because as we all know, babies are squirmy, and the kiddo probably moved a little out of your focus. I know you probably wanted a super sharp, crisp shot, but it probably would have been alright prior to the sharpening. Babies are soft, so I think it's okay to have a little softness in your focus when photographing them. |

Guess What?...We're Married!by davidwComment: With all the flowers in the shot my mind got stuck on the idea of smelling, and rather than whispering, it appears to me she is sniffing his ear. Lovely well-lit photo. |

One Morningby colorcarnivalComment: Obviously great lighting. I like the tones and smoothness. Also the composition isn't quite "textbook" which is a good thing. Interesting photo. |

Sit.by MikeComment: I really like the photo idea, but the lighting on the girl doesn't seem natural. She looks pasted onto the image and is missing her feet. Her pose is perfect though, I knew exactly what she was saying before looking at the title. |

King and Queenby bobnospumComment: Instantly when I saw this photo it reminded me of one I put in a Freestudy a couple years ago. Yours has an interesting, classic portrait feel to it with a nice distant stare. Mine? It's pretty silly, but the quality is still there (I think anyway)...
Yours scores a 6.6, and mind scored a 5.9. I'd be curious what people think is the reason for the .7 difference.

Backyard Brawlersby MarfunComment: Bummer, this scored lower than I hoped it would. Damn you unrealistic DPC saturation standards, damn you! |

I think the subject is awesome! But the execution of showing the subject is pretty bland. It seems like the colors are a bit flat, and the depth of field is too short. A lot of the "wow" landscapes like this have EVERYTHING in focus. And I think that is what you might have missed here.
Like I said though, the subject is awesome... And I think if it were done right, it could have been a top 10 no problem. |
For a single layer shot I don't think I could have done much better than f/18 for DOF. That shallow DOF comment haunts me no matter what I do. |

Strokkurby HalldorIngiComment: I so wish the quality of this were better. The bottom especially looks like it lost a lot of detail due to processing. My assumption is that it was lost in the attempt to remove ISO grain?
What an incredible scene though, two amazing Earthly wonders in one capture. I wish I could have seen it. |
