Poseidonby electrolostComment: Great texture and colors!
I think there's too little in focus as is. However, as an experiment, I took your shot into Photoshop and flipped it around so that the drain hole is in the bottom right. When it flipped around it was almost like I fell into the drain. That orientation really sucks you in for some reason, and the lack of surrounding area being in focus doesn't bother me either from that angle.
It's actually really freaking awesome with the hole in the bottom right. I even notice the green and magenta that I didn't notice before. I'd totally hang that in my kitchen, right above the sink... |

Elysian Fieldsby APComment: I love that huge red halo! I really hope you post all of your settings for this shot. Was the area foggy at all? |

Oops Too Lateby togtogComment: I was actually considering an idea similar to this. I live in Oregon, and we don't get to see the sun much this time of year. Mine would have been gray hazy skies. |

Winter... stage leftby Pipe_DreamComment: I'm currently going through a vignette fascination, so I may have tried the same approach with this edit. However, looking at it as someone who didn't do the edit, I think in this instance it would have been better to not use one. She's out in the wilderness, but the vignette seems to make it feel cramped.
Similar to the unspoken rule of color vs temperature. Reds are associated with warmth and blues with cold, so you don't generally want a winter scene with a red hue. Unless the mood you're going for is cramped or constrained, I'd say there's probably a similar rule to not use vignettes when out in the vast wilderness.
The subject in this case will draw attention to herself thanks to your flash illuminating her. There's not really a need to use the vignette to direct the viewer. |

Sand Drawingsby PeterPicComment: Very nice. The setting alone would have been, eh. Adding the child element takes the photo to great heights.
The weird blob on the bottom left is terribly distracting. I would have cloned that out. |

early birdby jamesfraterComment: Love the silhouette!
My first instinct is to turn my head. I realize that turning the image clockwise would dump the poor guy's nest, but it's a much more eye pleasing photo that way. You know that the nest would be crooked, but others don't. Add a vignette to balance what is now the left side of the photo, and blamo!
I think you'll finish strongly no matter what, because of the silhouette, colors, and texture. |

Twilight for Twoby swallaceComment: Lovely sunset colors, but that could be said for most of the challenge entries. The color that really grabs me from this shot is actually the teal on the water and how it blends as it goes to the right side of the photo.
The legs do get lost in the black foreground. I think if you had lowered the camera a bit it might have looked a little better. |

Siby tomorrowindComment: I have no idea what I'm looking at here. I recognize the thermometer floater thing, but no idea what the black stuff is on the table. |

rememberingby aimeethetooComment: I knew it was you! I thought I had written a comment during the challenge, but apparently I couldn't find the words to describe how awesome this shot is of you. It's so delicate and caring. |

The Last Thanksgivingby DrPhotoComment: I really expected this to be #1.
It's a pretty cluttered photo, but for me it all seems to be in place. I love the splashes of red. I love the lighting. I love the dreamy autumn neighborhood out the window. |
