Sounds Like It's Tea Timeby kingskingdomComment: I'm sure you'll hear this multiple times during the challenge, but it would have been nice to see the bellow of steam that we generally associate with a tea kettle whistling.
You'll probably also hear people wanting to see the spout included in the DOF, but to each their own, and clearly you wanted it presented this way or you would have shot it differently, heh. I do really like the brilliance of the handle. The shine and overall tone of the shot is quite pleasant. |

Piscesby freakin_hilariousComment: This reminds me a lot of Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night.
As others have said, I love the water texture and the glowy fish. |

swirlby cginoComment: I've been trying to convince myself I don't need to jump on this Lensbaby wagon, and you're not helping! The extension tubes (my favorite toys) + Lensbaby combo is incredibly interesting, heh.
You're getting some interesting results with your Lensbaby. Keep it up! |

sunkissedby cginoComment: Very captivating!
I think a lot of people would have thrown out the original shot, but you saw its great potential and brought it out. |

full moon 4.jpgby JdroullardComment: Originally posted by Jdroullard: Originally posted by aliqui: I admit, I don't like the composition, but I actually really like the effect you captured. I tried a couple different crops including a square crop, but I couldn't find anything that didn't look awkward. Still, the clouds, moon, and tree silhouette are great. If only you could move them around a bit, heh. |
Yeah, I know what you mean. But my fingers were frozen and I wanted to be back inside! I just wish I had been out earlier to catch it coming over the horizon, or had a major zoom lens in my possesion! |
I was just thinking, it's a good thing photographers don't have the ability to manipulate time, temperature, and move objects like the moon and trees. Or even if there was just a couple super-powered people who just happened to be photographers. What a mess this world would be! |

Swirling Steamby juliedancer116Comment: I'm fascinated by that steam! It looks like it should be fake, but can't pinpoint anything that would back that up.
I think this image would have been very striking without the blown out right side and the reflections in the mug. The tonal balance on the left side is quite nice, and the composition is pleasing. I even like the faint *ting* star you got on the rim of the mug. |
