Match Made in Heavenby tangueraComment: I think you're losing impact by having your explosion of color originate from the top left. I think this shot would have had more power in a portrait layout or if you had flipped it horizontally in the landscape layout. I really like the DOF, but it hurts my neck to look at.
...and my guess, brush! |

dec18-The Gymby Pug-HComment: Well seen. Definitely all about the shadows and the shapes that the shadows make on the existing shapes. |

SIM_2189_small.jpgby SimmsComment: This is one of those images that reminds me to say "No excuses". It's like my version of Nike's "Just do it", cept less lame.
I've gone out on countless days in the years past and didn't take a road shot like this, because the road was a slushy mess. Some days I didn't even make it out of the house, because I just knew there was worth taking a shot of because I had woken up too late.
This shot is beautiful... No excuses! |

funnky-heron-in-fog.jpgby vawendyComment: He looks positively wicked. Your other shot is the more typical kind, and this is one many would have trashed because he didn't look "perfect".
I would suggest completely dropping the contrast though. The foreground branch in the lower right corner is really distracting, as the bushy bit on the left. I think if you grey everything out the heron will almost appear closer, and he definitely won't be fighting for attention from objects. Those objects will just be shapes if you take away their contrast and texture, which in this case would be an asset. I'd almost suggest cloning the bottom right branch out to create a more simplified flow.
I just noticed the arrow his body is making pointing down. Now if an Arrow challenge comes up I'm going to find myself stalking herons for a week trying to get them to make that shape with their bodies, heh. |

Chilled Fallsby LeoComment: I envy your proximity to this falls!
There's something magical about that bridge, and the cold, icy weather really accentuates that. |

Swept Away (Alternate)by LeoComment: I've got a bit of a head cold, so when I opened this image it caused my heart to take a double beat or something. My balance wanted to kick in, but thanks to a head full of snot it didn't work quite right. Woo, what a ride, heh. |
