Comment:
There is much going on in this seemingly simple image, but they don't complement each other or come together to form a cohesive impression. Personification of the bear doesn't really work in the image to meet the challenge description of a 2 Person Portrait. The air mask seems wildly out of place as does the face paint. They both block what otherwise could be a fun smile and hairdo, which would seem to make a good singular portrait. The lighting is good and the perspective from the decorated fingernails and up the arms is interesting. The crop at the bottom loses continuity and seems odd.

Misery's Company

The is beautiful emotion in this capture. The fact that you cannot fully make out the expression of the person in the foreground, and that streak of blood/scar alludes to some painful experience. In contrast, his companion, fixated on what ever he has in his hand (brilliantly obscured), looks almost content if not smiling. Shallow DOF was a choice to isolate them and focus and exposure are perfect - as evident by the burning ember and the ball in the earring, not to mention the wrinkles in the neck and the pattern in the hat.

Not So Diffrent

The dichotomy of body paint and body art as well as colored hair and baldness is an excellent study of contradictions. The shadowing/darkness at top left hinders the over all image slightly, but that same natural lighting is perfect for the rest of the male subject's face. Interesting and fun image.

Neighbors

The processing on this gives it a creepy/eerie/spooky feel in contrast to their wonderful smiles. Contrast, depth and lighting are well executed and make this an image that really grabs the viewer's attention and captivates... at least it did to me.

Wonderful composition. The vertical orientation of the lovely models is rather unique and the lighting, while subtle, provides great emotion. The transition from model to drapery pattern to an abyss draws the eye across the image as it draw the mind down the path of "what/who are they waiting on... and why. Yet, the contentment in their expression implies both patience and anticipation.

I'm not sure I can make the leap to consider eyes being partners - while they certainly work together, they also never see, touch or interact with one another. This is a nice capture and would've done well in the female portrait challenge.

This is cute, but there is something about the brightness of her eyes that doesn't fit the image - notice the difference between them, her teeth and the white hair of the puppy.
