Hard to fit this into a "portrait" per say, as it's a candid moment really.
Good shot regardless. The depth of field here works well to isolate the 2 men form the background. |

| The is beautiful emotion in this capture. The fact that you cannot fully make out the expression of the person in the foreground, and that streak of blood/scar alludes to some painful experience. In contrast, his companion, fixated on what ever he has in his hand (brilliantly obscured), looks almost content if not smiling. Shallow DOF was a choice to isolate them and focus and exposure are perfect - as evident by the burning ember and the ball in the earring, not to mention the wrinkles in the neck and the pattern in the hat. |
