Hard to fit this into a "portrait" per say, as it's a candid moment really.
Good shot regardless. The depth of field here works well to isolate the 2 men form the background.

The is beautiful emotion in this capture. The fact that you cannot fully make out the expression of the person in the foreground, and that streak of blood/scar alludes to some painful experience. In contrast, his companion, fixated on what ever he has in his hand (brilliantly obscured), looks almost content if not smiling. Shallow DOF was a choice to isolate them and focus and exposure are perfect - as evident by the burning ember and the ball in the earring, not to mention the wrinkles in the neck and the pattern in the hat.
