Bird in a Bushby channeledComment: The idea is good. I have a couple of suggestions for you though. The shadow is too centered in your image, the plants are kind of grainy and out of focus and the background is a tad overexposed. I hope that was of some help to you. |

Janessyaby christyrackComment: She's a real cutie. Good idea with the shadows across her body, I went for a similar idea. Maybe a little on the soft side and a kick on the contrast would have helped some. The house in the background is a little bothersome, a shooting postion more to the right and pointing towards the fence would have kept the house out of the frame. |

Hip 2by MonaComment: I like this pic Mona, the way you've blurred out the foreground and background to highlight the flower is very effective. Love the details on the flower...... |

Surprises in the shadowby Bela45Comment: Fantastic play of light, and the contrasts within the shadow are great. I really would have included the whole shadow into your image though, the extra negative space wouldn't have been a problem. It's still a good pic as it is though. |

Three Little Jugs by agwrightComment: Ah very clear and focused still life. The hard light from the right is spot on, just under the "too much" phase, you regulated that one well. The long shadows of the pots extending out into the darkness on the left seems like they are reaching out and wanting to connect. |

Shadows So Softby pcodyComment: Wonderful! This is a good example to show that shadows don't always have to be black and dark. The lighting you set up is fantastic especially the way you have brought in a diagonal gradient. Something different, good show! |

Fallby ArtifactsComment: Nice sharp and prominent shadows. The leaves bring in an element of abandoness (hope I spellt that right). Including part of the gate is a matter of taste. For me it works and I would have done the same. I wonder if you get picked on for that. |

Forever Linkedby EddyGComment: Good toning, I really like the shade of blue you chose. The shadow within a shadow also adds impact to your image. The lighting is very good, just under the blown out phase at the top of the light bulb. The transgression in the background from blue to black is not hard and abrupt, rather soft and easy. Not much too critique on here. |

The Appleby WILDBLUEComment: Le Club Critique, bonjour Renee.
Well I've decided to double my critiques for the CC this month to "2". You are number two. When I first saw this pic I thought it was a wooden post sticking out of something concrete, the texture of your apple does give me the impression of concrete somehow. I eventually figured out what it is though. I like photos where I have to spend a bit longer looking at it to find out what it is, or how it is done etc.
The B&W and the play of shadows on the surface of the apple combine well together. The cropping is a little unusual. Actually Kavey hit the nail on the head with her comments below, I can't really add to what she has already written.
I only wish you had included the exposure details with this image in the "Photographic Information" tab. Other than that, well done, it's a good photo. |

Unbent Shadowby GolferDDSComment: Kewl effect. It is so enjoyable seeing photos with such ideas in the challenges, anything different works with me. This is also well done technically, good lighting, the shadow is sharp. A couple of little blow outs on the fork from the light but it doesn't decrease the quality of your image too much. |
