Hey Margie -

I am actually surprised this scored so low. I don't normally divulge what I scored any image, but seriously? I scored this one an 8. I thought it was a fantastic depiction of heat. The girl's expression is perfect, the suspended water is great. I even like the off-center crop. The light is a bit harsh, and that was just about all I had to criticize here. Perhaps a bit of Unsharp Mask might punch this up a bit?

First impression is honestly: WTH? What does this have to do with ninjas? The top of the lemon is way blown out, as well as the upper edge of the lenscap, and the DOF is not working for the lenscap since parts of it are out of focus, and the parts that are in focus aren't sharp enough.

I think this was a clever idea, especially considering the creative difficulties presented by the challenge. The composition itself is alright, but much too yellow. Somehow the colors look a bit dull and the edges of the game pieces look too soft. Not sure what to suggest for improvement on this one, perhaps more diffuse lighting?

This is an adorable idea. The composition is alright, though I'd like to see more of a color pop since the color seems a bit dull. I'm honestly not sure what to improve upon otherwise, this was such a strange challenge topic to judge.

This looks like a smoothie waiting to happen... mmmm... This is a nice composition.

Just a little bit of glare on the strawberries, but nothing major. My concern is with the focus. It's sharpest in the center, but my eye is drawn to the ends of the bananas, which are out of focus.

The first thing that strikes me about this photo is that the lighting looks a little too snapshotty. I would like to see this lit from several directions, and with a warmer tone. The shadow behind the mug is rather harsh. Coffee is usually associated with waking up in the morning (at least in the USA), so some lighting that also implies morning would make this a much stronger image. I like the composition, the coffee rings on the letter. The arrangement and idea are nice.
