White Throated Sparrowby scooter97Comment: Looks like he/she just migrated through a hurricane. Nice detail and clarity. These are pretty easy to ID with that white throat and those yellow lores. |

Mourning Doveby scooter97Comment: Cool shot of this dove. Adapts well to humanity, evidently. Our Mourning Doves are being squeezed out by the Eurasian Collared Doves. The Mourning Doves are much more desirable. |

MountainChickadee_3007by hahn23Comment: Originally posted by scooter97: Still very much a Chickadee in spite of the different facial markings. Ours here travel very often with Kinglets (golden and ruby). Do the Kinglets live in your area? |
Yes, the Ruby-crowned Kinglets will migrate in soon. They are common and numerous. The Golden-crowned Kinglets live in the tallest, oldest Spruce forests at a higher elevation. Much more rare and VERY difficult to photograph. I mean, I get to see them up 30' in the big Spruces, but they are shy, shy, shy. |

MountainChickadee_3007by hahn23Comment: Originally posted by doremi: Very similar to the black-capped chickadee that we have- they are just so cute! |
We also have black-capped chickadees, but the mountain chickadees are more common in the high country. Other than the obvious differences in markings, the vocalizations are very different. So, I don't even need to see the bird to tell which is in the tree, bush, etc. |

Cold, yes! The water is fresh snow melt. And, those are snow flakes being blown by the wind. I think it was 28 degrees F. at the time of this image capture. |

GHOwlNest_2822by hahn23Comment: Originally posted by doremi: Awesome sight & gorgeous capture. Do you know whether they return to the same nesting site year after year? |
Owls don't build their own nests. This is a "witch's broom" in a Ponderosa Pine. The other nest is built in an old Magpie nest. The owls do come back to the same places year after year, but don't reproduce every year. No owlets last year because of the extended snow into June. |

I live on the park boundary.... on purpose. It's a big help to be in close proximity to the wildlife and the landscape. |

Well, sort of. The room on the other side of the wall is my nesting site. LOL!!!! |
