Up here in the mountains, we only find starlings at the horse and cattle ranches. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks! That dark leading edge on the wings is called the patagial marks. It is the key field ID marking for the RTH. Only the RTH has patagial marks.

Good photo. I think the female also based on lak of color.... but the markings are that of the male. A female would have a dark line across the cheek. Maybe the light. Maybe a juvenile.

That luminescence of the head feathers can produce a rainbow of colors, based on the light angle. Good one!

Well, it's a male, but I've never seen this coloration in a Mallard. Could certainly be a hybrid version.
